Colby’s legislative priorities center on collaboration, accountability, and independence — principles that ensure government serves people, not parties. He believes the strength of Northern California lies in its diverse communities, natural resources, and spirit of innovation.
1. Rural Revitalization and Economic Growth
Colby advocates for policies that strengthen rural economies, support small businesses, and invest in infrastructure — from broadband access to sustainable energy. He emphasizes that rural California deserves equitable investment and a stronger voice in Washington.
2. Education and Workforce Development
Drawing on his experience as an educator and community leader, Colby champions career technical education, teacher recruitment and retention, and public-private partnerships that prepare students and workers for the jobs of tomorrow — in technology, clean energy, agriculture, and beyond.
3. Environmental Stewardship and Resilience
Colby views protecting Northern California’s lands and waters as both an economic and moral responsibility. He supports smart land management, wildfire prevention, and water conservation, while respecting tribal sovereignty and promoting sustainable agriculture.

Colby lives in Eureka, where he and his wife raised their three children. He is dedicated to representing all residents of District 2. He envisions a future built on collaboration, innovation, and shared prosperity.
